We know UPF50+ is good... but what does it really mean?
Well, we are glad you asked!
UPF stands for ultraviolet protection factor and is used to measure how much UV radiation can get through.
UPF50+ is the maximum rating possible and means that only 1/50th or less can get through. To carry the label UPF50+ each style needs to be tested in a lab by the Australian Government agency ARPANSA. They test the fabric and also the coverage offered by the design including factors such as minimum brim length.
All our kids sunhats, baby sunhats and kids swim hats are tested by ARPANSA and have been rated the maximum UPF50+ offering EXCELLENT SUN PROTECTION so you know they are safe in Acorn.
